Today, the American singer dropped her first full length song since her 2012 song ‘Girl on Fire’. According to Pitchfork, the singer and wife to producer Swizz Beatz, had been teasing fans with the new song on her snapchat. Now, ‘ In Common ‘ is finally here. But Keys’ new song is not getting the warm reception her contemporaries have received lately, and it’s all because of the old accusation that she wrecked Swizz Beatz’ marriage to singer Mashonda.
Recall that in 2009, Mashonda publicly accused Alicia Keys of destroying her marriage to the producer.
“You have no idea how much pain I was caused because of this affair,” Mashonda wrote back then. “If you are reading this Alicia, let me start by saying, you know what you did. You know the role you played and you know how you contributed to the ending of my marriage.
”This earned Keys a bad reputation as she is more often than not referred to as the ‘home wrecker’, and her husband has had cause to defend her from internet trolls.
With a new song out, many people are returning to the old conversation, saying that they will not listen to the song.
